Massena Public Library has joined 64 public libraries across the country to participate in a fitness course designed specifically for seniors.  Would you like to join a three month strength training video-led fitness study conducted by the Geri-Fit® Company and Massena Public Library?  You will be led by a qualified instructor as you exercise to a series of Geri-Fit® DVD workouts that will be shown throughout the duration of the study. Classes will be held twice-a-week for 45-minute sessions. Upon completion of the 12 week study, each participant will fill out a survey to help evaluate the program and to determine if their strength, stamina, balance and range of motion has improved. To qualify for the study, participants must be over the age of 65 and not be doing any kind of strength training exercises (walking, tai chi or yoga is ok). Most of the exercises will be performed seated in a chair and you will not have to get on the floor. Participants must complete as many of the 24 classes as possible that will be conducted during the three month period beginning the week of January 14 through mid-April. If you’d like further information or would like to register for the program, please call Elaine Dunne. Register soon as space is limited.
