Reception and Exhibit Opening

When: Saturday, February 24th @ 2:00pm

Where:  Massena Public Library Viewing Room & The Celine G. Philibert Memorial Cultural Centre & Museum

The Library is very pleased to partner with the Celine G. Philibert Memorial Cultural Centre & Museum to present “Look Down, You’ll See our Tracks”: Raquette River Dam Stories presented by TAUNY. The exhibit will be on display at the Celine G. Philibert Memorial Cultural Centre & Museum until May.  Join us on February 24th at 2:00pm at the Library for an interactive presentation by Camilla Ammirati, PhD, Director of Research and programs at Traditional Arts in Upstate New York (TAUNY). Camilla’s presentation will discuss the Raquette River history.   Over the last century, the Raquette River was transformed by a series of dams and powerhouses built to harness its hydroelectric power.  This exhibit documents the stories of people involved in or significantly affected by these power projects. After Camilla’s presentation at the Library we will continue our afternoon at the Celine G. Philibert Cultural Centre & Museum where Laura will take us on a tour of the Dams of the Raquette River Exhibition that is on display.  Light refreshments will be served.
